Volunteer
Mount Sima is a proud community-based hill with big spirit.
Our hill operations and events would not not be possible without the support of a strong community of volunteers. As a volunteer you’ll earn “Sima Bucks” and other perks. Volunteers are needed for events, fall brushing and other hill operations.
If interested in volunteering please email volunteer@mountsima.com.
Our Staff
SAM OETTLI
General Manager
Born and raised in Whitehorse. Started riding at the mountain the day it opened. Started volunteering with the Canadian Ski Patrol in 2000. Patrol leader from 2005 to 2011. Worked also in maintenance and grooming during that time. Operations Manager from 2011 to 2020. I am proud to continue to serve the community as we continue to make Mt. Sima the fantastic destination ski hill it is. See you out on the slopes!
AMIE SHEPPARD
Guest Services Manager
Amie has helped in many areas of Sima. Starting as the Trails Crew Supervisor in 2019, spending summer 2020 helping Maintenance and Bike Trails, and building the base with the Snowmaking team 2019 and 2020. Since 2020/2021 winter season she is happy to help as the Guest Services Manager.
TASHA MAZURKEWICH
Snow School Manager
Tasha recently joined Mt Sima's team in October 2020. Having grown up in interior BC, she loves spending time in the mountains and hitting the slopes whether it be on her skis or snowboard. She is happy to be a part of Whitehorse's local ski hill, and enjoys helping newcomers find their ski legs and discover the joy of gliding.
KIRSTIE SIMPSON
Pro Patrol
Kirstie has been a volunteer patroller with the Canadian Ski Patrol (CSP) since Mount Sima opened. She took on management of the Mount Sima ski patrol staff in 2019 and works in tandem with the CSP alpine patrol leader. All patrollers at Mount Sima are trained to the same exacting first aid and rescue standards and work as a cohesive team on all days the hill is open to the public.
DEVIN WITTIG
